What you are looking at here is a sketch of our 3d printed sunglasses, the first to come from my new wearable collection! The sunglasses in this configuration is a statement piece that is in prototype phase right now! The general concept for my sunglass collection is that I will design a few frames (Bold, Slim, Modern, Signature and Expressionist) and make it that you can easily interchange a variety of temples how ever you would like with different materials and shapes. You would be able to order full “built at order” sets here in the store of my site or manually assemble your set on my shapeways site as soon as I officially launch the line. Check back soon to see the progress and pricing!!!
The VisionSPECs are almost here! I’ve designed two pair of frames, SPEC2 fits the calmer type of face and SPEC3 fits the focused face both to be used with Oakleys Fuel Cell lenses. You are able to choose from a few different temples. The special launch temples that will be available are:
VER0- Temples with a modern opening (No limit, but can be customized)
VER313- Temples with a modern opening paying homage to Detroit automotive history and success (313 pairs will be printed)
VER415- Temples with a modern opening paying homage to SF Bay Area Creatives (415 pairs will be printed)
VER717- Temples with a modern opening paying homage to PA Car Community (717 pairs will be printed)
VER901- Temples with a modern opening paying homage to Memphis musical history (901 pairs will be printed)
Of course the Vanderpool Designs branded temples are the standard choice!
Here are the rendered versions of the VisionSpecs:
The prototype glasses are in! Overall they look pretty good especially because they read well even in the cheaper 3d printer prototyping material but they match the sketch almost entirely. I already have a list of improvements that will make the next iteration the best ever for the Vanderpool Designs brand of sunglasses. Although, it is printed in prototype material, I kind of like the 3d printing layering effect (stair step) in some areas. I can’t wait to finalize the design and have it available for all of my clients and future customers! The thing I like most about 3D printing via shapeways or my website is that I can deliver my sketch in its purest form directly to ‘you’ fresh off the press everytime. You have the choice to order it in different materials from the rough prototype material to various metals if you like. You would also have the option to interface directly with Vanderpool Designers to have a custom pair made for you. Check out the snaps I took of it!
